Salem Nurse-Midwives, Inc. is a nurse-midwife owned practice, the only one of its kind in the mid-Willamette Valley. We provide well woman care for all stages of life, from counseling teens for menstrual irregularities to menopausal women. The majority of our patients are women who entered our care for the birth of a child and continue to see us for their well woman care each year.

Pregnancy Care During pregnancy, we try to give as much information as is
needed for families to make informed choices. We believe that
pregnancy is a normal process, though we continually screen
for complications. We talk about options for birth to help prepare women to have the kind of birth they want. We realize that women and their families enter pregnancy with different goals and dreams for their baby's birth and we try to support those ideas, even if they are different from what we would choose for ourselves. One example is pain management, where we support the full range of safe options from natural, un-medicated births to those with epidural anesthesia, based on the woman's needs and wishes.

Silverton Hospital Since July 2001, we have been on the medical staff at Silverton Hospital and attend births there. Silverton Hospital's 18-bed Family Birth Center boasts impressive state-of-the-art facilities, low patient to nurse ratios and outstanding post-delivery support. We have been impressed with their family-centered philosophy and high quality care and choose to deliver there exclusively. See the Family Birth Center

Consulting Partners Our consulting physicians are Denis Dalisky, MD; Brooke Renard, MD and Katherine Dojaques, MD of Women's Health Care Professionals in Silverton. In cases of complication or increased risk, we either consult with or refer our patients to these physicians.

When one of the midwives is on vacation we have a fill-in Family Nurse-Practitioner, Kristen Jamsa, to work in the office on the days we are covering both the hospital and the office. This is to provide consistency in the office so your appointment won't need to be canceled if someone is in labor. Click here to Meet the Nurse-Midwives
